Movie Transcript:

There are a wide range of students who may benefit from text-to-speech software programs, including students with learning and attention disorders, students who are struggling with reading, students who speak English as a second language, and students with low vision or certain mobility problems.  Determining when and how text-to-speech might benefit a student should be determined by a problem solving process that first determines the specific learning tasks that the student needs to perform.

Many programs with text-to-speech capabilities also include features for word processing, spell checking, word prediction, dictionary support, and study skills.  Hearing and seeing the text may therefore support a student within a variety of learning experiences.
