Ohio SST AT Network
Established in 1968 by the Ohio Department of Education, Division of Special Education (now the Office for Exceptional Children), Ohio's SST network supports the vision of the Ohio Department of Education by providing products and services designed to assist those responsible for closing the achievement gap for children and youth with disabilities.
The mission of Ohio's statewide SST system is to improve the achievement of children and youth with disabilities by assisting educators and families in the development and delivery of specially designed instruction aligned with Ohio's academic content standards, and by assisting districts and agencies in complying with federal and state laws/regulations to ensure the full participation of children and youth with disabilities in the school community.
Consistent with operating standards for Ohio's Schools, each of Ohio's 16 SSTs is operated in cooperation with a governing board composed of superintendents of schools; special and general education personnel; parents of children with disabilities; and representatives from nonpublic and community schools, county boards of mental retardation and developmental disabilities, regional institutions, universities, and others in the region. Governing Board involvement and ownership ensures that SST services are delivered to address regional needs.
